Missing man found dead near tracks

PITTSBURGH — An autopsy was set on the body of a man who went missing after Wednesday afternoon’s Pittsburgh Pirates game only to be found dead a day later near some railroad tracks.

Pittsburgh police spokeswoman Sonya Toler says investigators believe 35-year-old Ronald Yancoskie’s death was accidental, without saying why. Results of Friday’s autopsy weren’t immediately available.

His body was found about 3:15 p.m. Thursday near some railroad tracks above Station Square. Yancoskie was expected to catch a train home to Dormont after Wednesday’s game.

Yancoskie’s wife says he texted her from the ballgame about wanting to take her to PNC Park in the near future. He had gone to the game with friends and was last seen walking to the train stop about 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Ex-chief probation officer pleads guilty

WASHINGTON — A former chief probation officer has pleaded guilty to stealing $3,500 from Washington County that was supposed to be used for martial arts lessons he never took.

Washington County District Attorney Eugene Vittone says 47-year-old Daniel Clements, of Aliquippa, will likely wind up on probation himself and lose his government pension when he returns for sentencing Aug. 18.
