Butler Twp. Police8:35 p.m. April 22 — Jason Beckwith, 28, of Butler was charged with retail theft, receiving stolen property, and conspiracy to commit theft by deception after he allegedly stole $128 worth of merchandise from Walmart in Butler Commons and then gave the items to another man in return for a gift card.There is a warrant out for Beckwith’s arrest.
State Police, Butler2:30 a.m. Friday — Two known Butler men allegedly entered Soose’s Auto Wreckage and Salvage on Jamisonville Road in Center Township and broke several windows on a truck and its headlights. The damage was valued at $520.The suspects, ages 21 and 22, also allegedly stole a CD player from another vehicle.The two men fled, but were identified by video surveillance. The investigation is ongoing.5:30 p.m. Thursday — Someone stole two laptops from an unlocked apartment at the Heights apartment complex in Slippery Rock Township.William Graham, 20, of Pittsburgh reported that two laptops, valued at $1,700 and $450, were stolen from his apartment.Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 724-284-8100.
State Police, Kittanning7:56 a.m. Friday — A car driven by Marie A. Dabat, 24, of Natrona Heights struck the back of a car driven by Melanie S. Campbell, 57, of Sarver along Route 28 in Springdale Township, Allegheny County.Police said Dabat was driving too fast for conditions and was unable to stop before hitting the back of Campbell’s Mercedes-Benz, which was attempting to stop for traffic.Dabat was cited for driving at an unsafe speed.6:36 a.m. Friday — A vehicle driven by James J. Greco, 71, of Sarver sideswiped a car driven by Mark R. Daigle, 48, of Sarver along Route 28 in East Deer Township, Allegheny County.Police said fatigue caused Greco to lose control of his southbound vehicle. Greco drifted into the left lane and hit Daigle’s car before crashing into the berm.The collision caused Daigle’s car to spin counter-clockwise before it came to a stop.Greco was cited for careless driving.
