READING — Boscov’s Department Stores has a new chief executive officer.

The company’s board of directors has named Jim Boscov to the post, according to a news release from the company Friday. He represents the third generation of Boscovs to head the company.

Albert Boscov retains his title as chairman and will remain active in the company.

Boscov’s operates 43 department stores in Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Delaware and Ohio and has announced the opening of an additional store this fall in Meriden, Conn.

The company has a store in Clearview Mall in Center Township.
