QUESTION: Why are you running for office?

HAVEN: To make Buffalo Township a better community to live in, work and do business. Also to enhance outdoor activities.

OEHLING: I want to provide a new voice to Buffalo Township. We have some of the highest taxes in the county and I want to change that. A chamber of commerce needs to be established to combat rising taxes. I want to be inclusive of people and add them to the discussion. Half of the money I would earn as a supervisor would go to charity.

RISCH: To help Buffalo Township people on fixed incomes.

QUESTION: What do you consider the pressing matters facing your municipality? How would you address them?

HAVEN: The biggest issue is revenue, how to get the biggest bang for the taxpayer buck. With prices for everything from salt to paving material going up. We are at a revenue neutral, break-even point. It will not be long until we will have to generate new and more revenue somehow.

We have a great board of supervisors, we are diligently seeking ways to increase revenue. The best way is through increased businesses in Buffalo. We are working to get Route 356 expanded to four lanes to relieve some of the traffic congestion but also to draw new business to our township.

OEHLING: The most pressing matters are taxes, road maintenance, unconstitutional zoning regulations, conflicts of interest of some supervisors currently serving the board and the lack of including people that live in the township.

I would establish a chamber of commerce to bring new business and retain income locally, providing transparency by including and encouraging people to participate in local discussion, utilizing social media and knocking on doors to hear the opinions of the populace. Buffalo Township needs serious change.

RISCH: Keep taxes down

Develop Route 356 corridor; bring more business into the township.
