Mars offices to be improved
ADAMS TWP — The administration offices for the Mars School District adjacent to the Mars Primary Center will be improved.
The school board Tuesday evening voted to approve an estimated $2 million to $3 million in renovations and additions to the offices.
That covers the offices of the superintendent, assistant superintendents, business manager and other administrators.
Acting Superintendent William Pettigrew said the offices have long been inadequate for the growing district.
“The board felt it was time to formalize those plans,” Pettigrew said. “The offices aren’t very functional at all.”
Included in the tentative plan is an addition for a technical center that would house the district’s technical staff, server and technical equipment.
The addition will be built so that it can be sealed off.
“It will be separate from the rest of the school for security reasons,” Pettigrew said.
Three of the six classrooms in the primary center wing closest to the administration office will be renovated to become offices. Pettigrew said the classrooms to be renovated are not used for students.
“There will be no impact on students,” Pettigrew said.
He did not know when the project would begin.
IKM of Pittsburgh is the architect for the project.
