Woman claims injury by DJ

PITTSBURGH — A Pittsburgh woman is suing a nightclub where she says a disc jockey’s failed attempt at crowd surfing fractured her pelvis.

Varsha Doggala says in Wednesday’s lawsuit that the DJ landed on her after jumping 6 to 10 feet from a stage at Static Nightclub last July.

She’s seeking damages in excess of $35,000 from the Strip District nightclub.

Static didn’t answer calls for comment.

Investigating officer shoots pit bull

NEW CASTLE — Authorities say a police officer shot and wounded a pit bull after it bit his partner as the two investigated a burglar alarm Thursday.

The Shenango Township officers found a door open with no one home. They went inside and were met by the dog, which lunged and bit one officer twice.

The homeowner took the animal to a veterinarian. The officer was taken to a hospital. No other information was available.
