Attesti returns to Zelienople for fundraiser
ZELIENOPLE — Classical concert pianist Francesco Attesti will perform soon in a fundraising event in the borough.
The concert at 8 p.m. May 22 at the Strand Theater will include music by composers Schubert, Chopin and Liszt.
The Italian-born Attesti has performed worldwide.
Proceeds from the performance will go to the theater, the Rotary Club of Zelienople and ShelterBox, a nonprofit organization that sends tents and supplies to regions hit by disaster.
Tom Grant, incoming president of the Rotary Club and supporter of ShelterBox, said he hopes for a good turnout.
“This is just one of many events that the Rotary Club holds for its projects,” Grant said. “A portion of the money will go toward getting supplies to hard hit areas.”
Grant noted that Attesti performed last year at the theater and hopes to have similar success this time around.
“A lot of people had wanted him to come back after they saw him last year,” Grant said. “Mr. Attesti told us recently he would be back in the area and wondered if we would like to host another performance.”
