BRADDOCK — A kayaker died after his boat overturned near Pittsburgh and left him stranded in the frigid Monongahela River.

Police say Ronald Vahosky, 46, of Munhall was reaching for something when his kayak overturned Thursday and became lodged underneath a coal barge in Braddock.

First responders performed CPR and Vahosky had a pulse when he was taken to the hospital. He was pronounced dead at UPMC Presbyterian.
