New district court office hosts open house

Dave Kovach

CRANBERRY TWP — District Judge Dave Kovach welcomed more than 50 guests Monday at an open house for the new district court office at 9028 Marshall Road.

The office, which opened in mid-January, is the first building built in Cranberry specifically to house a court.

The $700,000 facility is much larger than the former court office on Executive Drive in a building that was rented by the county.

The county owns the new facility, which includes a 30-seat courtroom, administrative offices, a kitchen and rooms for attorneys and their clients.

Kovach said, “We wanted to share with the community this important addition to the community. This is the first dedicated courthouse in Cranberry’s history.”

He said the building is getting good comments from people who are familiar with court offices.

“We get attorneys from Allegheny County, attorneys from Beaver County coming in here and saying it’s the nicest courthouse they’ve ever seen,” he said.
