West Sunbury man gets probation
A West Sunbury man will serve two years on probation for punching out a window in the Butler County Courthouse.
Bryan Lee Conner, 27, reportedly was angry over a plea offer for a prior offense when he caused the commotion June 18, 2014.
Court records say Conner then tried to elude arrest by changing clothes and providing a false name to authorities. But the outburst was on videotape and seen by witnesses.
Although officials never said what offenses or what offer Conner was reacting to, they did say he didn’t want to go to prison.
On Thursday when he appeared before county Judge Timothy McCune to be sentenced, Conner was an inmate escorted to court from the prison.
Incarcerated on a driving violation, Conner also has previous convictions for theft, bad checks and receiving stolen property, according to court records.
In this window case, he pleaded guilty to institutional vandalism, giving false identification to law enforcement and disorderly conduct.
In addition to the probation, he must serve 50 hours of community service and pay the county $434 in restitution.
