Shirley Eileen Gross Beighey, 85, of Harmony passed away Thursday at the Passavant Retirement Community.

Born on Aug. 9, 1929, in Zelienople, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Ida Kradel Gross.

Shirley was a lifelong member of the English Lutheran Church in Zelienople and served as a secretary there for 17 years. She also worked at Lava Crucible and as a secretary to Dr. P.W. Seiberling at the Lutheran Children’s Home.

She met her beloved husband of 60 years while attending Zelienople High School and working at Fishburn’s Pharmacy on Main Street, where she was known for her generous ice cream sundaes and floats.

Shirley was a great family historian with a sharp memory who enjoyed the serenity of her back porch in Harmony, and for many years, a cottage at Conneaut Lake dubbed the “Happy Shack.”

She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered as a caring woman who was devoted to her family.

Shirley is survived by her son, Mark Beighey of Weisbaden, Germany.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles W. Beighey on July 18, 2009; her two sons, Jeff and David Beighey; and her daughter-in-law, Heesuk “Kim” Beighey.

Beighey— Shirley's son, Mark, will welcome friends of Shirley Eileen Gross Beighey, who passed away Thursday, March 5, 2015, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at theBoylan Funeral Home, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople.Services for Shirley will be private. She will be laid to rest at the English Lutheran Cemetery in Zelienople.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her honor to the donor's choice of charity or in support of the Connoquenessing Valley Community Chest, P.O.
