Amish neighbors rebuild saw-sharpening shop
NEW CASTLE — Some Amish neighbors have helped a Western Pennsylvania businessman rebuild a saw-sharpening shop that burned in a fire less than two months ago.
Kaufman’s Saw Sharpening Shop in Neshannock Township burned Feb. 18. A state police fire marshal said the business burned because of problems with a flue pipe from a wood-burning stove.
Several Amish neighbors gathered to rebuild it Saturday.
The owner said he’s already open on a limited basis and hopes to be fully operational in a few weeks.
The fire caused about $40,000 damage. Firefighters kept damage to the owner’s nearby home to a minimum.
