Time for fantasy baseball

With the Major League Baseball season just around the corner, another season is set to begin.

Fantasy Baseball season.

And it can be just as intense as the real thing.

The key to success in fantasy baseball is finding those hidden gems, those overlooked dudes who fly under the radar, but turn in big seasons for you.

Well, the real key to success in fantasy baseball is luck, but you get the idea.

Here are some fantasy players to keep an eye on in your drafts:

Joc Pederson, OF — Other than having one of the coolest names, ol’ Joc is also on the verge of being the next great star.

The Dodgers’ prospect had a huge spring and has hit at every level. There are no such things as slam dunks (see Harper, Bryce), but Pederson looks as close to a can’t-miss as you can get.

Micah Johnson, 2B — MLB is all about speed these days, it seems. Home run numbers are dropping faster than PED sales in the majors and teams are looking more and more to players who can run.

Johnson certainly can do that for the White Sox. He can also get on base and with stud Jose Abreu hitting in the middle of that lineup, Johnson could score a lot of runs.

Billy Burns, OF — Another dude with wheels and he fits the A’s mold.

Trevor Bauer, SP — Need an under-the-radar guy to round out your pitching staff? Look no further than Bauer, who showed flashes last season. If he can put it all together, he could be the 2015 version of another Indians’ hurler, Corey Kluber.

Travis Snider, OF — Yes, Lunch Box Hero makes this list.

Why? He’s no longer a Pirate, which helps because he escapes pinch-hitter purgatory. He’s also in Baltimore now, which is a haven for left-handed hitters and he raked in the second half of last season.

He could also be a big flop, so buyer beware.

Xander Bogaerts, SS/3B — He was a popular pick last season, but never lived up to expectations. So, this year, he is kind of a forgotten man at a position that is usually a bit thin.

But in the revamped Red Sox lineup, he could sneak up and have a great season.

Mookie Betts, 2B/OF — Betts is valuable because he counts at another typically thin position, second base. And his name is Mookie. Can’t go wrong having a player named Mookie on your roster.

Edward Mujica, CP — He had 37 saves two years ago, is on a Red Sox team that has an injured closer and should win a lot more games. A good source for some cheap saves.

There are also guys who could bust. Here are a few dudes to avoid: Jon Lester, SP; Kris Bryant, 3B (pitching is much different when it counts and he will start season in Triple A; Josh Harrison, 3B; Justin Morneau, 1B; Any Padres’ hitter and any Rockies’ pitcher.
