Butler Police
Wednesday — A car was damaged while parked on the third level of the city’s tier parking garage. Police said it appeared that someone jumped on or something fell on the car, causing an estimated $1,000 in damage.
8:08 p.m. Tuesday — A car driven by Scott M. Carr, 32, of Center Township struck a sport utility vehicle parked at South Main and East Diamond streets. The crash forced the SUV into a tree.
Monday — Police filed two charges against Todd A. Moore, 46, of Butler in connection with a suspected shoplifting incident Feb. 26 at the Kmart store at Pullman Square. Moore was stopped after he was caught allegedly shoplifting $88 worth of clothing items.
He was later searched and found with a marijuana pipe. He is charged with a misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia and a summary count of retail theft.
10:51 p.m. Friday — Brandon L. Smith, 29, of Longview, Texas, was arrested on charges he assaulted his girlfriend at her home on American Avenue.
Police were called after the alleged victim, Melinda Andrew, reported Smith was drunk and out of control at her home. Officers said when they got there they heard a man yelling inside.
Andrew let in officers, who found Smith in an upstairs bedroom. He appeared “extremely intoxicated,” according to court documents. Police said at one point Smith charged at and raised a fist at one of the officers.
Documents noted that the officers had to use force before putting handcuffs on Smith. Police also said that he refused to walk out with officers and later would not get into the patrol car.
Smith was arraigned on charges of resisting arrest and disorderly conduct, and placed in the Butler County Prison on $10,000 bail.
9:27 p.m. March 4 — Kirk N. Guidotti, 17, of Butler lost control of his car on ice and slid into a guardrail at Morton and Mackey avenues.
Butler Township Police
1:05 a.m. Sunday — Marques V. Holt, 32, of Butler faces felony and misdemeanor drug charges after an unintended traffic stop.
Police were blocking off traffic following a wreck in the 700 block of Mercer Road when Holt drove up to an officer’s squad car. He put down the passenger side window to speak to the officer.
The officer immediately smelled an “extremely pungent smell of unburned marijuana” coming from inside the suspect’s vehicle.
Police pulled over Holt, who was “quite cooperative” with officers, according to court documents. He acknowledged there was marijuana in a bag.
The officer searched the bag and found a coffee can inside. In the can were 19 individual baggies of marijuana along with rolling papers and four amphetamine pills.
Holt is charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, and possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
State Police, Butler
6:43 a.m. Sunday — Jason T. Perry, 31, of Lyndora was arrested after an altercation with troopers responding to an unrelated officer-involved shooting call on Bessemer Avenue in Butler Township’s Lyndora neighborhood.
Police said they noticed Perry on the sidewalk and believed he was “highly intoxicated,” according to court documents. He began shouting profanities at troopers.
Following his arrest, he allegedly struggled with officers attempting to place him in the patrol car.
He was arraigned on charges of resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness, and placed in the Butler County Prison. He was later released after posting $2,500 bail.
