‘Magnolias’ opens at BLT

“Steel Magnolias” will open Friday at the Butler Little Theatre, One Howard St.

The comedy/drama by Robert Harling is being directed by Jud Stewart and produced by Connie Donovan and Maria Wellman.

The cast features Marge Bankert, Kelly Benner, Amy Dittman, Megan Flannery, Lorraine Martin and Katy Closkey Wayne.

The show will run through March 21. Curtain is at 8:15 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, 2:30 p.m. Sunday and 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

BLT will host an improv night from 7 to 9 p.m. March 28.

Sing Hosanna! stages ‘Oliver!’

Sing Hosanna! will present the musical “Oliver!” March 27 to 29 at the Succop Theatre at Butler County Community College.

Music, lyrics and book are by Lionel Bart.

Curtain is at 7:30 p.m. March 27 with two matinees at 2 p.m. March 28 and 29.

Tickets are $15 for those age 11 and older and $10 for those age 10 and younger. Tickets are available at May’s Music Shoppe.

Audubon hosts Maple Madness

The Audubon Society’s Maple Madness will be held March 21 at Beechwood Farms Nature Reserve in Fox Chapel and March 28 at Succop Nature Park in Penn Township.

There will be a guided walk showing the history of maple sugaring and a catered pancake breakfast featuring real maple syrup.

The event will last about 90 minutes and is appropriate for all ages. It is held rain or shine.

The event starts at 10 a.m. The last seating for the pancake brunch is at 1 p.m.; the last hike leaves with the 1 p.m. brunch group.

Mars youth dances in video

MARS — Chloe Lukasiak, one of the stars of the television show “Dance Moms,” is featured in a new music video.

The 14-year-old dancer from Mars appears in a video for Chicago singer-songwriter Jess Godwin’s song “Fool Me Once.”

The video debuted in February.

Star Parties scheduled

FRAZER TWP, Allegheny County — Star Parties sponsored by the Amateur Astronomers Association of Pittsburgh are planned for March.

The parties start at 7:40 p.m. March 27 and 28 at the Nicholas E. Wagman Observatory in Deer Lakes Regional Park near Russellton.
