Farm-City Banquet slated for March 16

Bullshipper to be awarded

The annual Farm-City Banquet featuring the presentation of the Butler County Conservation District Awards will be held at 6 p.m. March 16 at the Tanglewood Center.

Tickets are $15 and the reservation deadline is Wednesday. Call the district office to make reservations at 724-284-5270.

Susan Boser, Penn State Extension educator based in Beaver County, will be the featured speaker. Her topic will be “Valuing our Water Resources,” a topic of concern in our area.

The annual Bullshipper Award will be presented. The award goes to a member of the community who has helped promote an understanding of agriculture and its importance to Butler County. Radio personality Dave Malarkey was last year’s winner.

The Conservation District will also present awards for Cooperator of the Year, Outstanding Conservationist and special youth awards.

In addition to the Conservation District, the banquet is co-sponsored by the Penn State Extension, AgChoice Farm Credit, Butler County Farm Bureau and the Farm Service Agency of the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

The Tanglewood Center’s address is 10 Austin Ave., Lyndora.

Ron Fodor is manager of the Butler County Conservation District.
