Hawks add another for all-star game

ATLANTA — The Atlanta Hawks will have four players in Sunday’s NBA All-Star game after Kyle Korver was selected to replace Miami’s Dwyane Wade.

Commissioner Adam Silver selected Korver to the Eastern Conference team Tuesday after Wade pulled out because of a hamstring injury. The East-leading Hawks (43-10) already had Paul Millsap, Al Horford and Jeff Teague as reserves.

Korver is on pace to be the first player in NBA history to make more than 50 percent of his field goals and 3-point attempts, and better than 90 percent of his free throws. He is averaging 12.9 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game.

Korver, who turns 34 next month, is the fourth-oldest player to make his first All-Star appearance, behind Nat “Sweetwater” Clifton, Sam Cassell and Anthony Mason.

Female members join golf club

ST. ANDREWS, Scotland — The Royal and Ancient Golf Club announced its first seven female members on Thursday, including Swedish great Annika Sorenstam and Britain’s Princess Anne.

The club voted in September to end 260 years of male-only exclusivity by voting in favor of inviting women to join.

R&A captain George Macgregor described the admittance of seven female honorary members as “an historic day for the club.”

Hernandez trial expected to resume

FALL RIVER, Mass. — The murder trial of former New England Patriots player Aaron Hernandez is expected to resume after his fiancée was granted immunity to testify for prosecutors.

Hernandez is expected back in court Wednesday. He is charged with murder for the 2013 killing of semi-professional football player Odin Lloyd, who was dating the sister of his fiancée, Shayanna Jenkins.

On Tuesday, Superior Court Judge Susan Garsh agreed to prosecutors’ request for immunity for Jenkins. Jenkins will now be compelled to testify or face time behind bars. It’s not clear when or if she will be called.

The trial has been delayed by snow for the past two days and has lost five days total because of snow.

Butler gets truck intended for Brady

NORWOOD, Mass. — Malcolm Butler has intercepted the delivery of Tom Brady’s new truck.

Brady earned the prize for winning the Super Bowl MVP for the third time. He led the Patriots to a 28-24 victory over the Seattle Seahawks in this year’s game.

But New England didn’t clinch the win until Butler intercepted a pass at the goal line in the closing minute. And Brady said he would give the truck to Butler, who was an undrafted rookie.

Butler took delivery of the shiny red truck at a Boston-area dealership on Tuesday afternoon.
