Northcott breaks SRU throw record
Slippery Rock High School product Bre Northcott broke the Slippery Rock University women’s indoor track and field program record in the weight throw with an effort of 16.76 meters and placed second in the event Friday at Youngstown State University.
The mark is currently the best in the PSAC and topped the previous standard of 16.56 meters, set by teammate Brittany Christiansen.
In the men’s competition, SRU’s Hunter Williams, a Seneca Valley graduate, was part of The Rock’s foursome that took first place in the 4x400 relay with a time of 3:18.59. The team also included James Chandler, Monte Chapman and Jacob Van Houten.
Jordan Pacheco tied the meet record with a first-place effort in the pole vault of 4.8 meters.
Men’s Basketball
Butler County Community College cruised to a 93-63 victory over Westmoreland County Community College, with Alex Alvarez tallying 30 points and 11 rebounds.
Austin Miller added 25 points and Dom Pusateri 15 for the Pioneers (11-13, 7-5).
Women’s Basketball
Despite a great effort on the boards from Ashley Brehm (16) and Lauren Bresnahan (13), the Pioneers dropped a lopsided 76-29 decision to WCCC.
Brehm added nine points for BC3 (1-20, 1-7).
