Buffalo chimney fire doused
BUFFALO TWP — Firefighters Thursday night extinguished a chimney blaze at a home on Locust Drive.
Chief Matt Cypher of the Buffalo Township Volunteer Fire Company said the fire was visible when crews arrived at 103 Locust St.
“It was shooting flames out of the chimney,” he said.
The fire was doused from the roof. Cypher said the house did not sustain any damage.
“It was all contained in the chimney,” he said. “There were no extensions.”
The home's occupants, whose names were unavailable, were not injured.
Cypher attributed the cause to the chimney building up creosote.
“It was a dirty chimney,” he said.
More than 20 firefighters responded to the 9:04 p.m. 911 call. The Sarver and Saxonburg volunteer fire departments assisted Buffalo. Crews cleared the scene at 10:58 p.m.
