Adams couple seeks home for extra Jesus
ADAMS TWP — A couple is trying to identify the owner of a Christmas decoration that was left on their property following two burglary incidents.
Patti Deschamps, who lives in the Taylor Ridge housing plan, said the baby Jesus was stolen from the manger scene in front of her house on the evening of Dec. 20.
Deschamps told an Adams Township police officer that night that she heard a car squeal its tires, but she was not able to get a description of the vehicle as it left her house.
The police recorded the value of the stolen item as $25 and listed the call as “criminal mischief,” Chief William Westerman said.
Deschamps said she replaced the baby Jesus with one from another Nativity scene, and that one also was stolen on Dec. 23.
An Adams officer offered to keep an eye on the house on Christmas Eve, but the thief apparently returned while no one was home. When the Deschamps family came back home from church, they found the two stolen Nativity pieces and a third baby Jesus that does not belong to them.
Now the family asks that anyone who thinks the third baby Jesus belongs to him to call township police at 724-625-2040.
“We were very, very happy to get both of ours back. We would like to return the other one. If you are missing yours, we have it,” Deschamps said.
