Teenager escapes Summit Academy
SUMMIT TWP — Authorities are searching for an industrious teenager who escaped the Summit Academy reform school over the weekend.
The 16-year-old boy apparently used bedsheets tied together to rappel four floors down a building to the ground, state police said.
The youth, identified as Elmer Alonzo Galdino of Rockville, Md., made his getaway from the facility on Herman Road between 10:30 p.m. Saturday and 3 a.m. Sunday.
Summit Academy officials discovered the boy missing later Sunday morning. Police shortly after 8:30 a.m. put out a be-on-the-lookout advisory to local and area police for the teenager.
He is described as white or Hispanic, about 5 feet, 7 inches tall and 140 pounds. He has brown hair and hazel eyes.
The boy was believed to be wearing a dark blue hooded jacket with the letters “AK” in red on the right chest. He also was wearing blue sweat pants with the name “Summit Academy” in white letters, a blue sweat shirt and white New Balance sneakers.
Anyone who may have seen the boy is asked to call police at 724-284-8100, or call 911.
