Convicted drug dealer arrested
A convicted drug dealer on probation was arrested after he was caught Friday with a loaded stolen handgun and suspected marijuana and heroin, Butler police said.
Tywann R. Windham, 29, of Butler is in the Butler County Prison on felony weapons and drug charges.
County probation officers made a routine visit to Windham’s apartment in the 200 block of West Cunningham Street about 9:20 a.m. when they turned up a loaded .45-caliber pistol and drugs, according to court documents.
City police were notified and later learned that the Taurus handgun was previously reported stolen to state police in Butler.
Windham is not permitted to possess firearms because of his felony convictions.
Police also seized a shoe box with three bags of suspected marijuana, weighing a combined 2.4 ounces, four stamp bags of suspected heroin and a small portable scale, documents said.
Additionally police found a box of .45-caliber ammunition, another small portable scale and drug packaging materials.
Officers searched the suspect and found $250 on him, police said.
Windham was arraigned on felony charges of illegally possessing a firearm, possessing with intent to deliver a controlled substance and receiving stolen property.
He also was arraigned on misdemeanor charges of possessing a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, and possessing marijuana. He was placed in the county prison on $50,000 bail following arraignment.
County court records showed that Windham last June was sentenced to 11½ to 23 months in the county prison stemming from a drug trafficking case in 2013.
He also was convicted of felony drug possession in the county in 2010.
