Chicora restaurant hit by pickup truck

People inside building not hurt

CHICORA — No one was hurt Monday when a pickup truck crashed into a restaurant and bar on South Main Street, authorities said.

But several people inside the Millerstown Inn apparently got a morning jolt.

The unidentified driver was traveling westbound down the hill about 8:20 a.m. when he lost control of his Chevrolet Silverado. The pickup hit a car that was parked on the north side of the road near the business.

“The truck spun around and went into the bar,” said Chief Cody Craig of the Chicora Volunteer Fire Department. “It hit an exterior wall of the new addition, a porch, that was built a couple years ago.”

The truck driver, a man believed to be in his 20s, was shaken up but not injured.

“I asked him what happened,” Craig said, “and he told me he couldn’t remember.”

State police are investigating, but an accident report was not available this morning.

The business has an unknown amount of damage.

The owner, Steve Collier, who lives in an apartment above the restaurant, could not be reached for comment this morning.
