Thursday — Police charged Jeremy O. Watterson, 31, of Butler with failing to pay late fees incurred on the rental of a pressure washer last fall.Watterson on Oct. 18 got the equipment at Kenmac Rentals & Sales on South Main Street. He agreed to rent it for one day but did not return it until Oct. 21, according to a police report. He also did not pay the late charges he owed, even after receiving a certified letter from the business Nov. 13. The report noted that as of Thursday, Watterson owed $175.86 in late fees. He is charged with theft of services.Thursday — Chad J. Gumpp, 35, of Slippery Rock was charged with bouncing two business checks at Kenmac Rentals & Sales on South Main Street.A police report said Gumpp last year wrote one check for $212 and a second one for $338. Both checks were written on the account of Gumpp Lawncare & Landscaping, and both were later returned for insufficient funds.Gumpp is charged with two misdemeanor counts of bad checks.Thursday — An unidentified vehicle struck a 37-year-old West Sunbury woman's parked car on Krut Street in a hit-and-run crash between 9 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.3:24 p.m. Wednesday — Donna Ann Larkin, 26, was arrested on felony and other charges after probation officers found suspected drugs and other contraband at her home in the 500 block of Center Avenue.The probation officers notified police after reportedly finding “a large amount of paraphernalia,” according to court documents.Police later searched Larkin's bedroom and seized four small plastic baggies of suspected crack cocaine, 18 used hypodermic needles, two crack pipes, four empty stamp bags of suspected heroin, two burned spoons and a rubber tourniquet.Larkin was arraigned on charges of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, and possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. She was placed in the Butler County Prison on $25,000 bail. She also is being held on a probation violation.
Thursday — Police charged Charles E. Hanford, 28, of Karns City with drunken driving stemming from a one-vehicle crash at 11:23 a.m. Dec. 31 in the 900 block of Bullcreek Road. In addition to driving under the influence, Hanford is charged with driving with an open container of alcohol, driving at an unsafe speed, careless driving and reckless driving.
Thursday — Police charged Paul W. Surrena, 57, of Harrisville in connection with a three-vehicle crash Jan. 8 that left three people injured. Surrena allegedly drove away after the wreck at North and North Broad streets.He is charged with causing an accident involving injury, hit-and-run and following too closely to another vehicle.
Thursday — Police got an arrest warrant for Vincent M. Yandura, 30, of Evans City stemming from a controlled drug buy last year in Butler.Yandura on March 24 allegedly sold 10 stamp bags of heroin to a police informant for $130 on North Monroe Street, according to court documents. Yandura is charged with delivery of a controlled substance, a felony, and possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, both misdemeanors.12:48 a.m. Jan. 3 — Michael J. Brozenick, 24, of Butler was hurt when the Mack truck he was driving struck a guardrail and rolled onto its side on I-79 in Cranberry Township. Brozenick, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered minor injuries.Dec. 30 — A wood chipper was stolen from the Venango Township Building sometime Dec. 26 and 30. The white chipper was bolted to a black frame and trailer and has a John Deere motor.
