A pedestrian crossing the Smithfield Street Bridge braces against the wind Wednesday in downtown Pittsburgh. Frigid air is blowing across the United States, dropping temperatures in many areas into the teens and single digits. Butler County has seen temperatures plummet, and wind chills have been below zero the past two days. The region won’t see a reprieve until Sunday when temperatures finally climb above freezing.
