KARNS CITY — The Karns City High School Music Department, directed by Beth Ackelson and Amanda Paulson, will present a combined choir and band Christmas concert at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the high school auditorium.

Admission is free, and the concert is open to the community.

SLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock University's Old Stone House has expanded its program to offer a six-course series of cooking classes beginning Jan. 10.The Saturday classes will begin with a basic foundation of how to light a fire using steel and flint, advancing through soup, breads and then move to full entrees and desserts.The sessions will include hands-on instruction, tasting of created recipes and a recipe book covering the featured topic.Classes will meet from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Jan. 10 to Feb. 14 at the Old Stone House at the intersection of Routes 8, 173 and 528.The session will conclude with a sit-down dinner at which students may take a guest.Cost for the course is $130. FRANKLIN — A Franklin Christmas will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 19 at the Barrow-Civic Theatre, 1223 Liberty St.Proceeds will benefit the theater and the Franklin Fine Arts Council. PITTSBURGH — Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh presents a Burns Bash on Jan. 16 at the Pittsburgh Golf Club.Burns, widely regarded as the national poet of Scotland, was the favorite poet of museum founder Andrew Carnegie.Dinner guests will be treated to a Scottish strolling supper and dessert buffet, whisky tasting, music, bag piper, highland dancers, silent auction, and souvenir photograph.Tickets are $125.
