12:58 p.m. Thursday — A car driven by Brenda L. Keith, 49, of Butler struck a parked car on Brown Avenue.Police said the accident occurred when Keith, who was southbound, swerved to avoid an oncoming vehicle.Keith's car suffered minor damage but the parked car had to be towed from the scene.7:38 a.m. Wednesday — A car driven by Robert J. Cartwright, 28, of Butler crashed into a utility pole along North Main Street after he fell asleep at the wheel.Police said Cartwright was southbound when his car veered off the west side of the road, sideswiped a utility pole, then crashed head-on into a second pole.Cartwright told police he must have fallen asleep while driving, and that he just finished working a 12-hour shift.Cartwright was cited for careless driving.

8:07 p.m. Wednesday — Tammy Palmeri, 40, of Butler was charged with retail theft after she allegedly attempted to steal $750 worth of groceries from Giant Eagle at Moraine Pointe Plaza.

3:51 p.m. Thursday — A car driven by Hillary A. Pendel, 23, of Portersville struck a deer along Route 19, just north of Bauder School Road in Muddy Creek Township.Wednesday — Melisa Como, 22, of Grove City was charged with DUI following a traffic stop along Route 8 in Slippery Rock Township, just north of Branchton Road.Police said Como was seen making numerous traffic violations, including driving southbound in the northbound lane. Como was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of a controlled substance. She was charged after she refused chemical testing, police said.
