2 suffer injuries in head-on crash

Two drivers suffered moderate injuries Thursday night after a head-on collision on Franklin Road in Cranberry Township.

CRANBERRY TWP — Two people were injured Thursday night in a head-on collision on Franklin Road.

Todd Rice, an assistant fire chief with the Cranberry Township Volunteer Fire Company, said about 7:30 p.m. a Mitsubishi sedan and a Ford pickup truck collided in the 7100 block of Franklin Road.

“Two drivers went to the hospital,” Rice said. “They both suffered moderate injuries.”

Sgt. Chuck Mascellino with township police said a 24-year-old man from Butler fell asleep at the wheel and crossed the center line, hitting the vehicle driven by a 45-year-old Virginia man. Police did not release names of the men.

Rice said neither driver was trapped in their vehicles.

Township police officers were on the scene and two units from Cranberry Township EMS took the victims to unknown medical facilities.
