First-aid kit for dogs should include these items

Any dog owner will tell you that our four-legged friends can get themselves into trouble at home, even if you’ve puppy-proofed carefully. Accidents happen, and it’s best to be prepared with an at-home first aid kit so you can begin basic first aid should your dog get hurt or sick.

It’s always best to call your veterinarian if you suspect your dog is injured or sick. The American Kennel Club suggests keeping the following items handy so you can care for your pup until you get to your vet’s office in case of an accident.

• Adhesive tape for bandaging.

• Sterile dressing pads for covering wounds.

• Antiseptic solution and gauze for cleaning injuries.

• Latex gloves, tweezers and a magnifying glass to check for and remove ticks.
