Anthony J. 'Tony' Hermanowski

Anthony J. “Tony” Hermanowski, 93, of Jackson Township passed away Wednesday while under the care of Evergreen Nursing Center.

Born Feb. 9, 1921, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Adam and Mary Hermanowski.

Tony proudly served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.

He owned and operated Hermanowski Wholesale in Pittsburgh for more than 60 years.

In his free time, Tony was a learned hypnotist and enjoyed weightlifting. He possessed a powerful mind and dynamic spirit. His unconventional wisdom brought happiness and taught many valuable lessons to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his son, Joseph Hermanowski and his wife, Barbara, of Portersville; his daughter, Patricia Madden of Cherry Hill, N.J.; his daughter-in-law, Sarah Jane Hermanowski of Sarver; his sister, Nancy Hermanowski of Fox Chapel; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Helen Ann (Mroz) Hermanowski, who he married on Sept. 24, 1941, and who passed away in 2001; one son, Eugene Hermanowski; one son-in-law, Steven Madden; seven siblings; and one great-grandson, Joshua B. Keith.

HERMANOWSKI — The family of Anthony J. “Tony” Hermanowski, who died Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2014, will welcome friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Boylan Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople.A blessing service with military honors will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Michael Peck officiating. Tony will be laid to rest at the St. Augustine Cemetery in Shaler Township.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Tony's honor to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, P.O.
