BUTLER TWP — Alexis Schrecengost had eight kills and five aces to lead the Butler County Community College volleyball team to a 3-0 win over Highlands Community College Friday night.

Heather Straynick added eight kills and 15 digs, Amanda Wensel six kills. BC3 (11-7, 5-1) win the match 25-11, 25-7, 25-21.

The Pioneers host Point Park’s JV at 6 p.m. Monday.

NEW YORK — Defending women's champion Priscah Jeptoo of Kenya has withdrawn from the New York City Marathon.Stanley Biwott of Kenya, runner-up at the London Marathon, also has pulled out of the Nov. 2 race. The New York Road Runners said Friday that both runners have leg injuries.Jeptoo says the injury occurred at the London Marathon in April, took longer to heal and “will not allow me to be ready to honor the race and my title the way I should for such a great event.”She says she plans to come back to New York next year.Joining the field next month will be 2013 Boston Marathon champion Lelisa Desisa of Ethiopia and 2013 Chicago Marathon runner-up Jemima Sumgong of Kenya.

ARLINGTON, Texas — Interim manager Tim Bogar is among six more candidates the Texas Rangers plan to interview beginning next week in their search for Ron Washington's full-time replacement.The Rangers announced their interview plans Friday. The team also said the Arizona Diamondbacks have requested and were granted permission to speak to Bogar about their managerial vacancy.Bogar, who joined the Rangers last offseason as their bench coach, had a 14-8 record as interim manager after Washington resigned for personal reasons Sept. 5.Texas also announced plans to interview Pittsburgh bench coach Jeff Banister, Cleveland bullpen coach Kevin Cash, Boston bench coach Torey Lovullo, Chicago White Sox third base coach Joe McEwing and former major league player Alex Cora, now a manager and general manager in the Puerto Rican Winter League.Rangers pitching coach Mike Maddux and Triple-A manager Steve Buechele were interviewed last Tuesday.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The toxicology report shows former Titans kicker Rob Bironas had a blood alcohol content more than twice the legal limit for driving in Tennessee when he died in a one-vehicle crash.Testing released Friday by the Davidson County Medical Examiner's Office shows Bironas had a blood alcohol level of 0.218 percent. Tennessee's limit for driving under the influence is 0.08 percent. The toxicology report also says a low level of Diazepam or Valium also was detected, but at a level so low to have a “negligible effect”.The autopsy report finalized Friday shows the 36-year-old Bironas died of blunt force trauma after his SUV went off the road and crashed into a line of trees Sept. 20, and 911 calls described Bironas as chasing people and trying to run them off the road before losing control of his 2009 Yukon Denali.
