11:16 p.m. Thursday — Matthew P. Zulick, 48, was arrested after allegedly starting a fight with his roommate, 47-year-old Michael G. Warsing, at their apartment in the 400 block of North McKean Street.Zulick claimed Warsing initiated the fight but another roommate, a 21-year-old woman, backed up Warsing's account. During the fight, Zulick suffered a possible broken nose. He was treated at Butler Memorial Hospital.Later, he was released and placed in the Butler County Prison on a charge of simple assault.
Sept. 22 — Police charged John D. Frena-Baughman, 23, of Mount Pleasant, Westmoreland County, with drugged driving stemming from a traffic stop at 4:45 p.m. Aug. 7 on Grand Avenue.Police said they approached Frena-Baughman's car and smelled marijuana, according to court documents. He admitted he had a small amount of the drug in his glove box, police said.Suspecting Frena-Baughman was impaired, police took him to UPMC Passavant Cranberry for a blood test. Toxicology reports later showed he had marijuana in his system, documents said.He is charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.9:01 p.m. Sept. 20 — Robin Hershman, 59, of Wexford was arrested for driving under the influence on Mars-Evans City Road. Police stopped her for driving erratically and nearly hitting the curb as she passed Clark Avenue.A blood test later showed Hershman's blood-alcohol level was 0.122 percent, court documents said. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated in Pennsylvania.She is charged with DUI and disregarding traffic lanes.Sept. 19 — Police charged Conrad J. Hohenberger, 50, of New Galilee, Beaver County, with drunken driving after they found him in his pickup truck about 5:05 p.m. Sept. 13 parked at the Adams Shoppes. The truck's front tires were on the sidewalk in the parking lot.Hohenberger, who appeared to be impaired, was arrested after failing field sobriety tests. A subsequent blood test showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.161 percent, according to court documents, which is double the state's legal limit.He is charged with DUI and driving on the sidewalk.12:05 a.m. Sept. 15 — Kayla E. Mistick, 23, of Valencia was arrested for DUI after police stopped her for throwing a cigarette out of her car window on Three Degree Road.When the officer first spoke to Mistick and told her why he stopped her “she questioned if I was serious,” Patrolman Christopher Kopas said in charging documents.Kopas said he smelled a strong odor” of alcohol coming from Mistick, who later failed field sobriety tests and was taken for a blood test. The results showed her blood-alcohol was 0.148 percent, documents said.She is charged with DUI, driving with a suspended license and littering on a highway.
9:30 p.m. Saturday — A fight at the Butler High School homecoming dance landed a 15-year-old boy in trouble with the law. The boy, who was not enrolled at the school, was cited for disorderly conduct. Police did not identify the teen.
9:05 p.m. Sept. 18 — Myles L. Aliff, 43, of Gibsonia was arrested for driving under the influence at South Washington Street and May Lane after police saw him speed by their station. He was stopped and admitted to drinking “a couple of beers,” according to court documents.Police said he smelled of alcohol and they noticed an open can of beer in his sport utility vehicle. Toxicology results of a blood test later showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.098 percent, documents said. Under state law, a level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated.Aliff is charged with DUI and driving with an open container of alcohol.
10:07 a.m. Tuesday — A vehicle driven by Kelley A. McCaa, 22, of Volant struck a vehicle at the Trinity Living Center parking lot on Hillcrest Avenue and drove away without providing information about the accident. Police cited McCaa for hit-and-run.
Sept. 24 — Police charged Logan L. Kay, 18, of Zelienople with attacking three mental health staff members at Glade Run Lutheran Services on West Beaver Street.Kay, who is a resident at the facility, on Sept. 4 allegedly punched and kicked Zachary Carroll, punched and choked Ashley Baker and punched Kaitlyn Hewitt. Carroll suffered head, rib and chest injuries and Baker lost consciousness and had bruising to her neck and face.Kay is charged with three counts each of simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct.
Thursday — A 33-year-old Franklin Township woman reported that someone stole her identity and made several unauthorized transactions Sept. 21 under her name. Police are investigating.
