City woman accused of pointing gun

A Butler woman was charged with simple assault and reckless endangerment of another person after she allegedly pointed a loaded gun at a 19-year-old man Tuesday night.

Brandi M. Frantz, 40, told police she grabbed the gun after she heard a commotion on Taft Street outside her home.

She said she intended to scare the crowd away with the gun.

Police learned of the incident after responding to Rotary Park about 11 p.m. Tuesday on a report of a large fight. When officers arrived, they saw numerous people fleeing on foot and in vehicles.

While investigating the incident, police spoke with the 19-year-old man who told them Frantz pointed a gun at him and others. Police did not identify the man.

Frantz allegedly left the scene. Police quickly found her in the courtyard of a Shore Street apartment complex. Police said the gun was found hidden near a parked vehicle along the street.
