KARNS CITY — The family of a man stabbed during a home invasion last weekend has raised more than $15,000 for his care.

Adam Bell, 34, of Karns City underwent hours of surgery at Allegheny General Hospital following an attack early in the morning of Sept. 20 at his home on Olive Street.

Police charged Jeremiah B. McGrady, 19, and Zach McGrady, 17, both of Fairview township, with attempted homicide, aggravated assault, robbery and burglary.

Police said the brothers stabbed Bell multiple times while attempting to steal a cell phone and other items.

Bell suffered injuries to his liver and lungs.

George Hobaugh, Bell’s father-in-law, created a GoFundMe.com crowdfunding campaign to raise money for the family.

More than 230 people donated to the fund in three days, raising more than $15,000.

Hobaugh wrote on the page that the family is building a house and doesn’t have extra money to spare.

Hobaugh left an update on the page Friday saying that Bell also has a fractured skull, but that the fluid in his lungs has gone away.
