Preliminary numbers up for Taste of Cranberry

CRANBERRY TWP — The annual Taste of Cranberry event sponsored by the Pittsburgh North Regional Chamber is happening in a month, and officials said participation will likely be at an all-time high.

Jim Boltz, executive director of the chamber, said 20 restaurants have already signed up for the event.

Anyone coming to the event, which will be held at the Four Points by Sheraton North, can sample a variety of foods from local eateries.

Boltz said the Taste of Cranberry is a great chance for residents to connect with local foods they might not know exist.

It will also feature plenty of activities aimed at children such as face painting.

Boltz said the chamber has already sold 84 tickets this year and added attendance could surpass more than 500 people. Only about 400 people attended last year.

“We’re really excited,” Boltz said about the preliminary numbers. “And we’re still waiting to hear from a number of other local restaurants.”

The executive director said any restaurant interested in participating can contact him at the chamber’s office at 724-934-9700.

The event will run from 5 to 7 p.m. Sept. 29.

Tickets cost $15 for adults, $5 for children ages 4 to 12, and children younger than 4 can get in free.

The Taste of Cranberry is usually held at the Cranberry Township Municipal Center, but had to move this year because of construction at the building.

Anyone interested can buy tickets up to several days before the event.
