2:17 a.m. today — A Butler couple was arrested after police were called for a man and woman arguing on the street in the 400 block of West North Street. Officers found the suspects — Taneke Wise, 22, and Marc A. Latimore, 23, both of Butler — still yelling at one another in front of a nearby bar.Police said Wise smelled of alcohol. She and Latimore both accused the other of fighting. Officers arrested the pair and took them to the station. Latimore was later released. Wise was held there until sober.Both suspects face citations for disorderly conduct, a police report said. Wise faces another ticket for public drunkenness.11:10 a.m. Thursday — A car driven by Brannon J. Irvin, 26, of Butler struck another vehicle in the Cigarette Shop parking lot on West Jefferson Street. Police allege Irvin drove away but was found a short time later in the 100 block of College Street.A police report said he faces charges of hit-and-run and driving with a suspended license. The car's owner, Brittanny L. Lambing, 22, of Butler, faces a ticket for permitting an unauthorized person to drive her vehicle.3:22 p.m. Wednesday — Maximillian W. Halterman, 18, of Lyndora faces charges stemming from a hit-and-run accident on Pittsburgh Road and Brugh Avenue. Police suspect Halterman was driving a vehicle that hit a car driven by Carol A. Durbin, 72, of Herman.Durbin told police that Halterman initially stopped and followed her to a local auto body shop. But he allegedly gave her a false name before driving away, a police report said.Officers eventually identified the suspect, who admitted Thursday being involved in the accident and using a bogus name.Police said Halterman faces charges of hit-and-run, driving with a suspended license and giving false information.

9:42 a.m. Tuesday — Aaron F. Blystone 24, of Butler allegedly took the ignition fuse out of his ex-girlfriend's car so the vehicle would not start. Police cited Blystone with criminal mischief.

Thursday — Kathleen M. Redington, 47, was arraigned on charges she inhaled a can of compressed air duster at her house on Main Street earlier this week.Police on Monday had gone to Redington's home for a welfare check. Officers said they found her there and she appeared to be impaired. She admitted she had been huffing, according to court documents.She was arrested on a probation violation. Later, she also was arraigned on a charge of inhaling toxic releasing substances, a third-degree misdemeanor. She was placed in the Butler County Prison on $1,000 bail.

6:15 p.m. Wednesday — Police are searching for a suspect in a hit-and-run accident.A red pickup truck struck a Nissan Sentra at the intersection of South Center and West Poplar streets. The truck, driven by a white male, fled the scene. The truck's driver was described as balding and about 40 years old.Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-458-7925.

7:42 p.m. Thursday — A pickup truck driven by Ronald J. Mason, 65, of Lower Burrell, Westmoreland County, struck a deer on Route 356 just north of Chapelview Drive in Winfield Township.Tuesday — Mose A. Lane, 53, of Butler was arrested for violating Megan's Law after police found out that he was driving a vehicle, which he had failed to register with authorities in accordance with the state law.Additionally, police earlier this year learned that Lane had used an unknown alias and provided false information about his home address. He is charged with three felony counts of failing to comply with registration of sexual offenders requirements.A Tier 3 high-risk sex offender, Lane in 1985 was convicted of rape and indecent assault, according to the state police Megan's Law website.He was arraigned Tuesday on the latest charges and released on $10,000 unsecured bail.

10:06 a.m. Tuesday — A golf cart was reported stolen in a burglary at Creekside Mushrooms on Moonlight Drive in West Franklin Township. Police have no suspects. Anyone with information is asked to call the barracks at 724-543-2011.Aug. 14 — Police charged John P. Denison, 22, of Kittanning and Andrew E. Walker, 24, of Rural Valley with shoplifting merchandise Aug. 2 from the Walmart at the Hilltop Plaza in East Franklin Township. Both suspects face misdemeanor counts of retail theft and receiving stolen property.

Thursday — Police charged Caitland N. Ringler, 18, of Polk, Venango County, with assaulting and threatening another woman with a steak knife last month in Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County. Ringler allegedly attacked 23-year-old Sara L. Huey, 23, of New Castle on Route 422.The defendant is charged with simple assault, terroristic threats and harassment.
