Law firm joins cause for 5K race
CRANBERRY TWP — A law firm is teaming up with the Cranberry Township Community Chest to sponsor a 5K race to benefit the 2015 Project of the Year.
Michelle Ellery, director of marketing and communications for the township law firm of Lynch Weis, said the race will be in Community Park on Sept. 1.
All of the proceeds from the Labor Day race will go to the Project of the Year, which is a $500,000 initiative to recruit and retain more volunteer firefighters in Butler County.
Ellery said the 5K race and the one mile walk will include a special firehouse challenge. In that challenge, teams of three runners from fire companies will compete against each other, and the team with the lowest combined race time will win $500.
The second place team will get $350 while the third place team will get $150.
“We’ve recognized the community chest’s projects are a really big benefit to the community,” Ellery said. “And certainly with our business we wanted to get behind the Project of the Year with everything we could.”
Dan Lynch, founder and managing partner of the law firm, agreed: “We consider it a great investment in our community and our business.”
More than $186,000 has been raised toward the $500,000 goal.
