Carl A. Pflugh Jr., 76, of Butler passed away peacefully in his sleep early Saturday morning at St. John's Specialty Care, Mars.

Born on Sept. 23, 1937, in Butler, he was a son of the late Carl A. Pflugh and Marie (Klepper) Pflugh.

Carl graduated from Penn Township High School in 1956 and worked as a welding inspector for the Pullman Standard Car Company in Butler. Following his retirement, he worked as a general handyman, helping people in need.

He was an avid sports fan, having belonged to the Natali's Golf League and a bowling league. He formerly coached baseball. When feeling well enough, he enjoyed going to car shows, flea markets and breakfast at the Burger Hut with his brother. Mostly he enjoyed his family and loved life, as he always had a positive attitude and outlook.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Pennsylvania National Guard.

Surviving are his daughter, Monica (Gary) Reed of Fenelton, and his two sons, Robert (Laurie) Pflugh, and Rodney Pflugh, all of Brookhaven; his five grandchildren, Sara Reed, Travis Reed, Kayla Pflugh, Bob Pflugh, and Kelly Pflugh, and his brothers and sister, Richard Pflugh, Ruth Simmons and Ronnie Pflugh, all of Butler, and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sally Mae (Smith) Pflugh, who he married in April 1962, and who passed away on Nov. 23, 2010, and his sister, Audrey Bable.

Pflugh— The friends of Carl A. Pflugh Jr., who passed away Saturday, June 21, 2014, will be received at theGeibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
