BlueSox crush Ironmen

Butler’s Cody Herald went 4-for-5 and teammate Mick Fennell 3-for-5 to lead a 14-hit attack as the BlueSox picked up an 11-2 win at Lorain County in Prospect League baseball play Wednesday.

Herald’s night also featured one run scored and three batted in while Fennell scored three times and had one RBI.

The BlueSox scored five times in the third inning and led 9-0 entering the bottom of the eighth.

Cody Massanelli, Matt Peters, Nick Sell (two) and Stuart Levy (two) all drove in runs for Butler.

Mitch Patishall had a superb start to earn the win, throwing seven shut-out innings, striking out three, walking one and allowing just one hit.

Austin Logan surrendered both of Lorain’s runs (one earned) in the eighth before Herald worked a scoreless ninth. It was the second appearance on the mound for Herald. The first since June 27.

Butler (18-13 overall, 3-0 second half) will be back in action when it hosts Danville on Friday.

First pitch is set for 4 p.m.
