Wednesday — Tyler J. Vaughan, 20, of Butler was charged with writing bad checks.Vaughan allegedly wrote a bad check on March 21 to the Workingman's Store for $390. Alan Rosenberg, the owner of the store, told police the check bounced the following day due to insufficient funds.Rosenberg sent Vaughan a letter requesting payment but never received a reply.Vaughan has six prior convictions for bad checks.

5:45 p.m. Wednesday — Patrick Bauldoff, 22, of Fenelton backed into a parked vehicle along Alton Street at Bessemer Avenue causing disabling damage to that vehicle.Bauldoff was cited for driving without a valid state inspection.12:58 p.m. Tuesday — Claire Kerstetter, 79, of Valencia lost control of her vehicle in the parking lot of West Penn Hearing Aid Center on Whitestown Road.Police said Kerstetter accidentally hit the accelerator instead of the brake while attempting to park, causing her car to travel down a small embankment and onto Whitestown Road.Her car struck a passing vehicle driven by Cody Lehnerd, 22, of Cabot.Kerstetter's vehicle was towed from the scene.2:24 p.m. June 17 — Maudie E. Cochran, 24, of Kittanning was charged with retail theft, receiving stolen property, and conspiracy to commit retail theft, and possession of instruments of crime after allegedly stealing $234 worth of items from Walmart at Butler Commons.After the investigation, Robert F. Ohler, 60, of Kittanning also was charged with retail theft, conspiracy to commit retail theft and driving with a suspended license for assisting Cochran.

7:20 a.m. Wednesday — Louis J. Saluga III, 39, of Hilliards was charged with burglary, corruption of minors and indecent assault after he was found in a bedroom with a 15-year-old girl at a home in Scrubgrass Township.Police said the victim's father was returning home from work when he found Saluga in the home.Saluga was arraigned before District Judge Douglas Dinberg and placed in Venango County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash bond.
