Tuesday — Police charged John S. Allen, 31, of Butler with drunken and drugged driving stemming from an attempted traffic stop on Whitestown Road near Villa Drive. Officers tried to stop Allen, police said, but he allegedly fled in his vehicle.Later, officers found the suspect and his vehicle at the Butler Intermediate School.Allen is charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and a controlled substance, fleeing or attempting to elude police, driving at an unsafe speed and careless driving.Friday — Police filed felony and other charges against a repeat shoplifter accused of trying to swipe three grocery items totaling $13.44 from the Walmart at Butler Commons.The suspect, Marilyn M. Lower, 61, of Evans City tried to walk out the store but a security officer stopped her, according to court documents. Police were called.A check of Lower's record, documents said, showed that she had two prior convictions for shoplifting. Due to her past record, police charged her with felony retail theft.Additionally, police cited Lower for summary criminal mischief, noting that two of the grocery items she allegedly shoplifted were destroyed.3:37 p.m. Saturday — Robert Murray, 51, of McKees Rocks, Allegheny County, was caught allegedly shoplifting $175 in merchandise from the Walmart at Butler Commons. He fled but was later identified. Murray is charged with retail theft and driving with a suspended license.

7:54 p.m. Saturday — Frank A. Calderone Sr., 73, was arrested after allegedly threatening two relatives with a gun and hitting a third family member with a plastic bat during an altercation at his home on Beacon Light Road.Police said Calderone got upset with his son and sister-in-law, who live next door, and pointed a .32-caliber pistol at them. The gun was not loaded, investigators said.During the family dispute, according to court documents, the defendant also hit his 13-year-old grandson in the left forearm with a plastic baseball bat.Adams Township police and state police assisted at the scene.Calderone was later arraigned on charges of aggravated assault, simple assault and reckless endangerment. He is free on $25,000 unsecured bail.

7:18 p.m. Tuesday — Matthew Drozd, 69, of Pittsburgh lost control of his car during a severe downpour and crashed into a guardrail on Interstate 79 in Cranberry Township.

June 18 — Police arrested Tara L. Klinkenberger, 37, of Kennerdell, Venango County, in connection with the April 10 break-in at a home in the 1400 block of Harrisville Road in Jackson Township, Mercer County.Klinkenberger was arraigned on charges of burglary, trespass, theft and receiving stolen property. She is free on $50,000 unsecured bail.7:19 p.m. June 2 — An unknown black female was caught on surveillance video shoplifting clothing items from the Tommy Hilfiger Store at the Premium Outlets in Springfield Township.2:38 p.m. May 15 — A pair of white women in their 30s were spotted stealing two camouflage T-shirts from the Consumer Direct Sports Supplies store on Veterans Road in Springfield Township.When confronted by store security, police said, the suspected shoplifters ran out a back door.
