Kevin Boozel, 43, of Mercer Township this morning announced his candidacy for Democratic commissioner in the 2015 primary.

Boozel, who is the PA 211 Southwest project manager for the United Way of Allegheny County, said his background in human services help qualify him for the job of commissioner.

He has served on various boards for nonprofit organizations.

Boozel wants to focus on such issues as financial stability, housing and employment.

He is a firefighter with the Harrisville Volunteer Fire Department.
