Church roof gets temporary patch
The hole in the roof at the Grace @ Calvary Lutheran Church on East Diamond Street is patched temporarily, but it will be a while until the lightning-damaged building will be repaired.
Lightning struck the building about 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Jim Schiebel, church property chairman, said this morning the hole is patched with plywood and tar paper and services and other activities can go on. He said that tarps may be installed later over the hole.
Etzel Masonry of Butler will work next week to repair stone blocks damaged by the strike.
Permanent roof work will take place after that.
Schiebel said it could take a month before all work is completed, mainly due to the complicated stone work.
