Friday — Police investigated a case of theft by deception of a woman at the College View Towers.The victim was contacted via Facebook by a man she did not know. The man, who turned out to be a scam artist, identified himself as Peter Attwood.The suspect requested money be sent to Nigeria to help him. The victim sent $1,000 to him over several weeks in February.After duping the woman, according to a police report, he requested that she obtain money from others to send to him.Police again advise residents not to send any money to strangers or suspicious organizations.Friday — Brandon Gamble, 20, of Fredonia and Jeremy Kulp, 21, of Grove City were arrested for possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia at the BP convenience store on West Main Street.Police responded on a complaint that the two men were smoking marijuana in the store parking lot.Thursday — Police said an unknown vehicle drove up a sidewalk and struck a fence at the Tower Presbyterian Church along South Broad Street. The vehicle fled the scene.

5:58 a.m. Sunday — Carla L. Devore, 26, of Petrolia was hurt when she lost control of her car and rolled over after hitting an embankment on Fairview Road just north of Chestnut Road in Fairview Township. Devore, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered minor injuries. She was cited for driving an unsafe speed.8:30 p.m. Saturday — A vandal knocked down a wire fence while riding a dirt bike at a home on Bloomfield Road in Portersville.Thursday — Two revolvers were reported stolen from a home that was being remodeled on Grosvenor Drive in Center Township in 2010. The owner only recently reported the guns missing. He believed the theft happened between October 2010 and October 2011.The revolvers are described as a Smith & Wesson model 63 .22-caliber and a Ruger Security Six .357-caliber. Both guns are stainless steel with wooden handles.Thursday — Three rifles, three shotguns and a .380-caliber pistol, along with numerous coins, were stolen in a burglary at a home in the 300 block of East Mercer Street in Harrisville. The break-in happened between Oct. 29 and Thursday.Wednesday — More than $5,000 in property, including video game systems and numerous video games, was stolen in a burglary at a home on Hannahstown Road in Jefferson Township. The break-in happened between 10 and 11 a.m.7:21 p.m. June 1 — A car driven by Scott C. Heim, 49, of Greenville, Mercer County, struck a ditch on Interstate 79 in Muddy Creek Township. Police cited Heim for a lane violation.

Thursday — Police cited a Texas trucker stemming from a suspect hit-and-run crash about 6 p.m. May 15 when his rig sideswiped a pickup truck driven by Jeffrey B. Hinkle, 58, of Emlenton on Interstate 80 in Monroe Township.Tawayne A. Glover, 49, of Upshur, Texas, did not stop after the crash but was later identified. He is charged with hit-and-run, failing to give information after an accident, careless driving and a lane violation.

2:21 p.m. Sunday — Kevin E. Uber, 46, of Grove City was hurt when he swerved his pickup truck to avoid three deer and struck a tree along Liberty Road just north of Schmidt Road in Pine Township, Mercer County.Uber and his passenger, Beverly L. Uber, 72, of Grove City, were both taken to the Grove City Medical Center with moderate injuries. Both were wearing seat belts.3:05 a.m. Saturday — A 19-year-old man from Monroeville, Allegheny County, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Route 58 at the Walmart in Pine Township. Mercer County. Police did not identify the suspect.1:39 p.m. Friday — A car driven by Marylou Bowser, 54, of Slippery Rock rear-ended another car on Route 258 just north of North Liberty Road in Liberty Township. Joyce E, Frenz, 59, of Grove City, the other driver, suffered minor injuries. She was wearing a seat belt.Bowser was cited for careless driving.Wednesday — An identity thief stole and used a 29-year-old Grove City man's credit card to make an unauthorized transaction in Pine Township, Mercer County.3:15 p.m. Tuesday — Shelly R. Stitt, 41, of Stonesboro was hurt when she lost control of her car and crashed over an embankment on Route 173 in Wolf Creek Township. Stitt, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered minor injuries.
