11:53 a.m. Wednesday — A minivan driven by a Maryland man struck the back of a sport utility vehicle that was slowing for traffic on Route 68 just west of Ash Stop Road in Forward Township.The van driver, Timothy J. Heffner, 47, of Fairview Township, York County, was cited for following too closely to another vehicle, police said. Jennifer R. Wolfe, 33, of Butler was driving the SUV.Wednesday — Police charged two Saxonburg men in connection with last week's theft of a mattress set from a Wexford woman's trailer home at Saxony Estates in Jefferson Township.The suspects, William S. Thoma, 50, and Clark E. Weber, 55, allegedly entered the trailer without the owner's permission between May 21 and Saturday. Police said Thoma took the mattress set and carried it to his own trailer.Thoma is charged with burglary and theft. Weber is charged with trespass.Tuesday — Forty brake rotors were stolen from Jack Edwards Auto Parts on South Main Street in Harrisville. The rotors, which were in a bin on the east side of the building, were taken between 2 p.m. Sunday and 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.Monday — An unknown thief stole a license plate from a 64-year-old man's motorcycle parked in the front lawn of his home on Pleasure Valley Lane in Slippery Rock Township. The theft happened between May 22 and Monday.8:44 a.m. Friday — Someone used a 46-year-old Center Township man's credit union debit card to buy $367 in merchandise from the Walmart in Harrisburg. Police have no suspects but the investigation continues.

5 p.m. Saturday — Calvin Birckbichler, 35, of East Brady is accused of improperly disciplining a 15-year-old Chicora girl after allegedly cutting her with a pocket knife at a home on Kittanning Hollow Road in Sugarcreek Township.Birckbichler faces charges of child endangerment, simple assault and harassment, according to a police report.Police did not identify the girl. The extent of her injuries, if any, was not known.

May 12 — Police filed criminal and summary charges against Steven M. Nestor, 52, of Sandy Lake for shooting at an unleashed and aggressive dog on April 28 “in close proximity of” several other homes on Mercer Street in New Lebanon, a police report said.Nestor is charged with reckless endangerment and criminal mischief.May 9 — Robert S. Kapetanovich, 41, of Mercer was charged with drunken driving stemming from a traffic stop at 2:50 a.m. April 9 on Route 62 near Cottage Road in Jackson Township, Mercer County.In addition to driving under the influence, police cited Kapetanovich for careless driving and disregarding traffic lanes.May 9 — Police charged Philip E. Lengauer, 79, of Stoneboro with DUI in connection with a traffic stop at 2:40 a.m. April 13 at Yankee School and Hendersonville roads in Sandy Lake Township.Lengauer also is charged with careless driving and disregarding traffic lanes.
