Rock's Reinhardt claims D-II javelin crown
ALLENDALE, Mich. — Slippery Rock University sophomore David Reinhardt unleashed a throw of 68.83 meters (225 feet, 10 inches) in the javelin to win a NCAA Division II national championship at the Outdoor Track and Field National Championships at Grand Valley State University Saturday.
Reinhardt, a Bradford graduate, earned his first All-American honor with the win and becomes only the fifth individual in SRU history to win a national championship.
His is the first male athlete to win a national title since Cameron Daugherty won the pole vault in 2012. He is the second javelin thrower to win a title, joining Steve Rihel, who won his in 1997.
