10:37 p.m. Thursday — Jay K. Shilling, 49, of Butler was arrested for driving under the influence after he ran a stop sign on Pillow Street at Bantam Avenue. A breath test later showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.167 percent, or more than double the state's 0.08 percent legal limit.A search of the defendant's car, according to a police report, turned up suspected drug contraband including a metal smoking pipe and a digital scale.In addition to DUI, Shilling faces charges of possessing drug paraphernalia and a stop sign violation.2:11 p.m. Tuesday — Cars driven by Sierra A. Hartzell, 19, of Butler and Alice Okeson, 65, of Renfrew collided at Pillow Street and Second Avenue.

Wednesday — A counterfeit $100 bill was reportedly passed at Natural Options in downtown Grove City, Police described the unknown suspect as a male.2:40 p.m. Wednesday — Jaquais E. Davis, 20, of Sharon was arrested on a bench warrant. He later was released.

Wednesday — An unknown thief stole a 25-gallon cast-iron kettle from a home on Hilliard Road in Washington Township. The theft happened between May 8 and Wednesday.9:05 p.m. Tuesday — Bald tires and speed were blamed for a one-car crash that injured a teenager in Marion Township. Joshua J. Lamping, 19, of Boyers lost control of the vehicle on Allison Road, just north of Watson Road.Police noted that Allison Road is a gravel road and Lamping had just crested a hill when his car slid sideways and struck a fence post.The post went through the windshield. Lamping, who was not wearing a seat belt, suffered moderate injuries. He was treated at Grove City Medical Center.Police cited Lamping for speeding, careless driving, disregarding traffic lanes, driving at an unsafe speed and not wearing a seat belt.1 a.m. Sunday — A car driven by Nicholas S. Greenfield, 23, of Beaver Falls, Beaver County, rear-ended another car on Route 488 just east of Brenneman Road in Portersville.Police cited Greenfield for driving at an unsafe speed and driving an unregistered car. Julie A. Crawford, 42, of Ellwood City was the other driver.

Wednesday — An unknown vandal cut the telephone lines in the 600 block of Wild Cat Road in Madison Township. The vandalism happened between 12:30 and 6 a.m.

9:10 p.m. Wednesday — Germaine H. Kaiser, 63, of Worthington was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Route 422 on the Graff Bridge in Manor Township.
