8 p.m. Thursday — Robert J. Sipe, 20, of Butler reported someone stole a weed eater from his home in the 500 block of West Brady Street. Sipe told police he left the gas powered weed eater in his enclosed backyard. It is valued at $120.2:52 p.m. Sunday — Jennifer R. Shoaf, 33, of Chicora was charged with possession of a controlled substance and retail theft after she allegedly tried to steal $118 worth of cosmetics from Kmart on Hansen Avenue.Police said Kmart employees witnessed Shoaf putting numerous items in her purse before she tried to leave the store without paying for the items. When police searched the purse, they also found a prescription for a controlled substance belonging to another woman.

10 a.m. Thursday — Kathleen L. Mellish, 58, of East Brady reported someone stole cash and jewelry from her Glynn Road home.The suspect entered the home by pushing in an air conditioning unit.
