Crash sends motorcyclist through window of van

Police investigate a traffic accident Thursday near the intersection of Rochester and Powell roads in which a motorcycle rear-ended a minivan, sending the cyclist crashing through the rear window of the van.

CRANBERRY TWP — A motorcycle rear-ended a minivan Thursday afternoon near the intersection of Rochester and Powell roads, sending the bike driver through the back window of the van.

Township police and paramedics responded to the accident before 1 p.m. Both the bike and the van were stopped on Powell Road in a lane in which vehicles could either travel straight or make a turn onto Rochester Road.

The driver of the sports bike was taken to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, according to Cranberry Police Sgt. Chuck Mascellino.

The driver of the minivan remained at the scene afterward and was visibly upset as police reconstructed the accident.

Police at the scene couldn't give any information regarding the driver's condition or the names of those involved.

No other information was available this morning from the police.
