4 p.m. Sunday — A jogger was hurt when a sport utility vehicle hit him in Slippery Rock.Jacob B. Huthmacher, 20, of Pittsburgh was jogging north on Main Street on the west side of the road when he ran in front of the SUV while crossing Kiester Road. The vehicle, driven by Juliana A. Smeltz, 21, of Dornsife, Northumberland County, which was westbound on Kiester Road, knocked Huthmacher airborne for about 15 feet.Huthmacher suffered only minor injuries and did not need hospital treatment. Police said he was cited for not crossing a road at a crosswalk.3:26 p.m. Sunday — A young boy was injured in a two-vehicle wreck in Center Township.The crash happened at Routes 308 and 8 when an SUV driven by John G. Kuhn, 35, of Slippery Rock turned the wrong way and collided with a car. Lucas Kuhn, 5, of Slippery Rock, a backseat passenger in the SUV, was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.Tiffany M. Ceasar, 33, of Butler was driving the car. Both drivers and three passengers in the SUV were not injured. They were all wearing seat belts. Police said Kuhn was cited for disobeying traffic control devices.11:56 a.m. Friday — Charges of cruelty to animals are pending against James E. Segura, 39, of Clearfield Township after police found four malnourished dogs at his home along the 900 block of Clearfield Road.Troopers said they found two pit bulls in a small cage, while another pit bull and a poodle were each in separate small cages. Police also found a turtle in an aquarium.The dogs were standing in a large amount of feces with no food or water. It is unknown how long the animals were in the kennels.A witness told police she heard the dogs barking on April 17.The landlord of the property said he has not seen or heard from the tenants in weeks.The Butler County Humane Society was contacted and took the animals to its shelter on Route 68 in Connoquenessing Township.
Saturday — An unknown burglar broke into the basement of a home on Doc Walker Road in Perry Township. Nothing was taken in the burglary that happened between 7 p.m. Wednesday and 10 p.m. Saturday.
Today — Police arrested a New Jersey woman wanted by authorities in her home state on a felony warrant following a traffic stop on Interstate 80 in Clinton Township.Chasiti N. Romano, 37, of Keyport, N.J., was stopped after she was spotted driving erratically while westbound. Police said she nearly rear-ended another vehicle.A check of the car's registration found it was previously reported stolen. Police pulled over Romano at the rest area near Barkeyville. She was placed in the Venango County Jail on the warrant issued out of Monmouth County, N.J.Police also cited her for driving without a license and following too closely to another vehicle.Saturday — Michael Lee Foust, 44, and Patricia A. Smith, 48, both of Parker, were cited for trespass after they were caught at Hovis Auto Wrecking on Emlenton Clintonville Road in Scrubgrass Township without the owner's permission.
12:30 a.m. Saturday — Stephen P. Glenn Sr., 45, was arrested after he allegedly fired a shot from a .22-caliber rifle into the air during a domestic dispute with his girlfriend at their home on Enterprise Road in Pine Township, Mercer County.Glenn's girlfriend, who police did not identify, told investigators that she and the defendant argued after he came home intoxicated. She said she tried to leave the home and was walking on the driveway when Glenn left the house and shot the rifle. No injuries were reported.Glenn, who faces charges of reckless endangerment and simple assault, was placed in the Mercer County Jail on unrelated warrants.April 21 — An identity thief used a 21-year-old Grove City woman's bank debit card to withdraw an unspecified amount of money at different automated teller machines throughout Mercer County between Feb. 19 and April 21. Police did not say if they have a suspect.April 17 — A Grove City woman's Apple iPod Touch was stolen from the Grove City YMCA gymnasium on Route 58 in Pine Township, Mercer County.
